USJ – ESIB Seminar – 5G: Design, Challenges and Trends

Join us on Wednesday February 13, 2019 from 5pm to 6 pm at ESIB Amphitheater, Mar Roukos, for an exciting seminar on the « The 5th generation of mobile networks : design, challenges & trends”. The seminar will be presented by Dr. Akl Charaf R&D consultant at Mitsubishi Electric R&D Centre Europe – Wireless communications.

Abstract  :

High speed mobile networks have brought radical changes in the last years and enabled a number of new markets and business models. At the same time, we witnessed demands and efforts to provide secure Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, vehicular communications, smart cities, etc. Recently, 5G was born: it is a universal system with native lean design addressing demands including (but not limited to) massive IoT, critical communications and ultra-high throughput through wide spectrum and sophisticated massive antennas techniques.  In this presentation we give an overview of 5G use cases and its potential impacts. We also present the key components and techniques deployed to achieve 5G performance promises. In addition we give a brief description of the 3GPP standardization process with a summary of current 5G status and future works.
